Craving more from the home team
Underwhelming, I came late to miss the first act whose music I didn’t really know. (“Sorry to that man, I don’t know this man”) I’m also battling a cold so I didn’t have much business being in these streets as it is. Anyway, I was able to make it inside before JE came on. Frank Ski came out looking like somebody’s uncle spilling tea that JE had already said on the radio station prior. Seemed unnecessary but I know he was just buying time. JE emerges in their adorned bullet proof vests singing their fan favorite melodies that I always hear on the radio. Even though I was all the way in the back I couldn’t help but to notice how hoarse the group sounded, especially Brian (or Brandon, there twins, I can’t tell them apart), which was hard to miss as they’re both the lead singers. A few songs in one of them apologize to the crowd like “my bad y’all I know my voice is cracking, I’ve been sick for weeks” (an excuse that sounds more like I’ve been partying hella hard and haven’t been vocal training but okay). Halfway through, his twin did kick in to lend the vocals for him. The set was fine, I was hoping to hear more songs from the vault than the classics (they did preview a new song from their new album that sounded nice) but I assume this wasn’t a real concert, just an event sponsored by V-103 that showcased two artists. I arrived at almost 9 and was leaving the event by 10. No love lost but I’ll sit out the next JE concert and stick to my Spotify instead.
